Kernl — AI Thinking Canvas
A research-grade tool that helps you reason before you write — turning rough thoughts into structured arguments with AI scaffolding. Built for our own practice, now used by clients.
Flat-rate pricing, no retainers, and a working demo in your inbox within two weeks. Here's exactly what we build and what it costs — no jargon, no lock-in.
Prices above are list rates calibrated for Newtown small businesses — not mid-market firms. A restaurant owner with 12 employees looks at a budget differently than a regional chain, and we price accordingly.
We anchor on value, not hours. You're not buying "20 hours of web design" — you're buying a site that makes you look as professional as you are. The free AI audit isn't charity: it's a structured conversation that finds real savings in your operation before any money changes hands.
Every project starts with a signed agreement and a 50% deposit. No retainers, no lock-in, no surprises on the invoice. You own everything we build.
30-minute conversation. No deck, no pitch. We learn the business, the obstacle, the deadline.
A single page: what we will build, what we will not, what it will cost, when you can ship.
Weekly demos in your inbox. Real software within ten days. We change course in hours, not weeks.
Documentation, training, and a 30-day warranty. You own everything. We stay on call.
Every project on this page was built for an actual client with an actual deadline — delivered on time and on budget. Two include full case studies so you can see exactly how we work.

Boutique firm site reimagined as a conversion machine — quiet system, sharp voice, knowledge-base architecture for long-tail SEO.
A Chrome DevTool extension that pairs automated scanning with guided manual testing — plus a mission-control dashboard that turns the findings into a deliverable report.
Live event companion: schedule, attendee networking, push alerts, sponsor playbook. Used by 90% of attendees. Shipped on time, on budget.
Before starting any complex piece of writing — a proposal, a report, a strategy memo — there's a stage of rough thinking that most tools handle badly. Notes apps are too passive. Outliners are too rigid. AI chat tools jump to drafting before you've reasoned through the problem.
We were spending 3–4 hours a week in that messy middle space: turning scattered notes into structured arguments before any actual writing could begin. It was the most cognitively expensive part of our work, and no existing tool was built for it.
Kernl is a thinking canvas that sits upstream of writing. You drop in rough ideas, fragments, questions, contradictions. The AI scaffolding helps you surface the underlying argument structure — what you actually believe, what you're unsure about, what's missing.
We built the first working version in 10 days. It went into daily use in our own practice immediately. We've since refined it based on real workflow feedback — not hypothetical user research.
We recovered roughly 4 hours per week on complex reasoning tasks. More importantly, the quality of structured thinking improved — fewer revision cycles, clearer proposals, faster client alignment. The tool paid for its own build time within the first month.
This is the kind of outcome we target for every AI consulting engagement: a specific, measurable improvement in how your operation runs — not a demo that sits in a slide deck.
If you've been told AI is too expensive or too complex for a small business, Kernl is evidence to the contrary. We built this ourselves, from scratch, with the same process we'd use for a client project. The free AI audit we offer is designed to find your version of this problem — the repeatable, expensive task that a purpose-built tool could handle in minutes instead of hours.
Accessibility audits are inherently structured work — every engagement follows the same WCAG criteria, the same testing sequence, the same reporting format. But without a purpose-built tool, every audit report was assembled manually: copying criterion text, re-entering remediation notes, reformatting for different clients.
The result was inconsistent output quality and a report time that varied wildly — anywhere from 6 to 14 hours depending on complexity and how distracted the session was.
Aperio A11y is a Chrome DevTool extension paired with a web Control Center. The extension runs right inside the browser dev tools panel — automated scanning catches what machines can catch, and a guided manual-testing mode walks the auditor through the criteria that still require a human eye. Every finding the auditor confirms in the extension flows straight back into the Control Center, where it becomes part of the deliverable report.
Report generation time dropped by roughly 50%. More importantly, every report now follows the same structure and quality bar — no more variation based on how much time was left at the end of an engagement. Client feedback on report clarity improved immediately.
The archive feature turned repeat clients into a genuinely different service: instead of "here's your audit," we could show a client their progress over time — which criteria were fixed, which were regressing, where new issues had emerged.
This case study shows what a micro app looks like for a service business: a tool scoped to one workflow, built to solve one expensive problem, delivered in a few weeks. The pattern works for booking systems, intake flows, report generation, internal dashboards — anything you're currently doing manually in a spreadsheet or by copy-pasting between tools.
If you can describe your process in five steps, we can probably build a tool for it.
A full-service digital studio in Newtown working with Bucks County businesses on websites, custom apps, and AI that earns its keep.
We're not an agency with account managers and kickoff decks. We're a sole proprietor based in Newtown — one person with a trusted network of collaborators and a professional practice that goes back to 2008.
We answer the phone. We meet at the bakery. We do the work, and we stay available when something needs fixing the day before your busy season.
Accessibility has been the foundation of this practice since the beginning — it's not a checkbox service we added to look current. Years of manual testing, remediation work, and WCAG compliance has shaped a particular way of thinking about software: that it has to work for everyone, every time.
That same discipline carries into every website and app we build. Not over-engineered, not rushed — built to last and to work.
Aperio started as Aperio Accessibility Consulting — a sole proprietor practice focused on WCAG compliance, audit work, and remediation. That work was valuable and precise. The problem it solved (making digital products accessible to people with disabilities) never stopped mattering.
But the market for pure accessibility consulting is narrow, and the market for everything connected to it — web design, the apps that need to be accessible, the AI workflows that need to be audited — is the actual world small businesses live in. Clients kept asking: "Can you also just rebuild the site?" "Could you automate this intake flow?" "What's the simplest way to add a chatbot?"
The answer was always yes. The practice already had the skills. It just needed a name that said so.
Aperio Web Design & AI Consulting — operating as Aperio Studio — is that name. Accessibility stays. It just has company now.
Most digital vendors your business encounters are remote, faceless, and structured around volume. They send a quote, disappear into a project management app, and resurface three months later with a deliverable that's not quite what you described at the kickoff call.
We live and work here. We know the businesses on State Street, the ones that moved in last spring, the ones that have been here for decades. We know what a Newtown small business looks like — what the budget constraints are, what the customer base expects, what actually drives foot traffic versus what just looks good in a pitch.
Local presence changes the dynamic. We can meet for coffee. We can walk in and see your operation. We can show up on a Tuesday afternoon when something breaks and you need a human being, not a ticket number.
"A real partner, not a vendor. They told us when we were wrong, and they were right every time."
"The app shipped on time, on budget, and 90% of our attendees used it daily. That never happens."
Tell us what you're working on. We reply personally within one business day — no auto-responder, no sales pitch, no proposal unless you ask for one.
A real reply from Jason — not an automated acknowledgment. If something's time-sensitive, call 443-945-7297.
If you'd rather talk over coffee than type into a form, that works too. We're a ten-minute walk from the center of town. Just send a note with a time that works and we'll pick somewhere convenient.
